FAHMUNA: Journal of Da'wah and Communication is a national journal that involves experts as editors and is published twice a year. FAHMUNA is published in print and online by the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication, Institut Agama Islam Nahdlatul Ulama Bangil. This statement emphasizes writing ethics for authors, managing editors, expert editors, and publishers as well as all parties involved in publishing FAHMUNA. The basis for the affirmation of the statement refers to COPE's Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.
Guidelines for Publishing Ethics
The publication of all articles in FAHMUNA is an important part of the process of developing knowledge, especially in the field of community strengthening and mentoring or empowerment practices. This is a clear illustration of the commitment, dedication, and quality of the authors and supporting institutions. All articles published by FAHMUNA refer to scientific standards and methods. Therefore, standards of ethical behavior become the basis and binding guidelines for authors, managing editors, expert editors, publishers, and the public as well as various parties involved in publishing and publication.
All stages up to publication are carried out seriously and measured by recognizing ethical responsibility under the supervision and monitoring of the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication of the Islamic Institute of Nahdlatul Ulama Bangil as the publisher. Fahmuna journal managers are committed and dedicated to ensuring that reprint advertisements and other commercial income do not choose to influence editorial decision-making. The Faculty of Da'wah and Communication of the Nahdlatul Ulama Bangil Institute of Islamic Religion is also committed to communicating with journal managers and other publishers, if deemed important and necessary.
Publishing Decision
The editor of FAHMUNA is fully responsible for deciding whether or not an article will be published. Verification, validation, and urgency for the development of knowledge in the field of community strengthening, mentoring, and empowerment practices as well as authors and readers are the determining factors for decision making. Therefore, the editors are always guided by the policies of the journal's editorial board and controlled by legal provisions, as related to defamation, plagiarism, and copyright infringement. Editors can also discuss with other editors and the assessment team in the decision-making process of accepting or rejecting an article.
Fair Treatment
FAHMUNA editors consistently evaluate manuscripts based on quality without discriminating on the basis of differences in religion, race, ethnicity, gender, nationality or the authors' paradigm of thinking.
Confidentiality
FAHMUNA editors are not allowed to provide information in any form about manuscripts received other than to authors, expert editors, and publishers.
Notification and Conflict of Interest
Manuscripts that have been submitted to the manager of FAHMUNA and not published, the manager is not allowed to use them for personal gain without written consent from the authors.
Obligations of the Review Team
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
The expert editor's assessment is the main consideration for the managing editor in determining editorial decisions, and each author can communicate with the editorial in the process of improving their writing.
Speed
Selected reviewers who do not feel qualified to review the manuscript or feel that it is not possible to complete the review in a timely manner should notify the editor and excuse themselves from the review process.
Objectivity Standard
The entire assessment process is conducted objectively and personal criticism is not allowed. Reviewers should present their views clearly and refer to the relevant scientific basis.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers of manuscripts in the FAHMUNA journal must identify sources that are relevant to the substance of the manuscript but have not been cited by the author. Assessors also ensure that any substance of the manuscript that refers to interviews, observations, relevant literature, and others must include the source clearly and refer to the citation rules determined by the journal manager. The assessor should also ask the editor to compare the similarity between the assessed manuscript and other published writings.
Notification and Conflict of Interest
Assessors are not allowed to conduct assessments that are influenced by conflicts of interest with authors or institutions related to the writing, whether resulting from employment competition, cooperation or otherwise.
Author Obligations
Reporting Standards
Each author must use valid data, accurate reports, and objective discussion of the submitted manuscript. Each submitted article must include details and sufficient and relevant references. Statements in writing that are deliberately not valid, accurate, and objective are a form of unethical and unacceptable behavior.
Authenticity and Plagiarism
Each author must ensure the authenticity of the substance of the submitted manuscript. Each author must also ensure the correctness of quotations if using the work, observations or words of others.
Multiple, Repetitive or Concurrent Publishing
All authors must not submit manuscripts describing essentially the same research to more than one journal. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously is a form of unethical and unacceptable behavior.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Acknowledgment of sources or other people's work should always be included in every manuscript. This is part of objectivity and appreciation. Each author should cite publications that were influential in determining the nature of the submitted work.
Subject of the paper
Subjects should be limited to those authors who made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution or interpretation of the reported study. All persons who made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. If others participated in certain key aspects of the research project, they should be listed as contributors. Authors should ensure that all co-authors are included in the paper, and that all authors have seen and approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to submit it for publication.
Notification and Conflicts of Interest
All authors must disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflicts that might be expected to influence the outcome of their work. Similarly, all financial support for the research project must be disclosed.
Fundamental errors in published works
Authors should immediately communicate with the editor or publisher of the journal they are working with if they find significant errors, deficiencies or inaccuracies in their work, so that it can be retracted for revision.
